Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting Homeless Man Who Asked Her To Move Her Porsche

She claims she fired in self defense.

26-year-old Katie Quackenbush has been charged with attempted murder after she shot a homeless man who asked her to move her car.

According to TheGrio.com 54-year-old Gerald Melton was “disturbed by exhaust fumes and loud music coming from a Porsche” as he tried to “sleep on the sidewalk” on Nashville’s Music Row. An argument quickly ensued after Melton asked the aspiring country singer to move her car. Quackenbush allegedly followed Melton—who retreated from the argument— back to the area where he had been trying to sleep and shot him twice in the abdomen before fleeing the scene.

Quackenbush’s father,Jesse Quackenbush claims his daughter was acting in self defense. “She closed her eyes when she shot both times, but they were warnings, and she thought she pointed away from him,” he said in a statement to the Tennessean.

Prior to her arrest for attempted murder, Katie Quackenbush was arrested twice for assault when she lived in Texas.

Quackenbush was released after posting a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 6.
