Paramount Offers Movie 'Apps' On Windows Phone 7

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paramount Digital Entertainment said on Tuesday that it will distribute 10 of its films in the form of applications, or "apps," designed to play on smart phones running Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 software.

Phones running Windows Phone 7 went on sale in the U.S. last month, and directly compete with smart phones such as Apple Inc.'s iPhone and a plethora of others running Google Inc.'s popular Android software.

In addition to a full film, Paramount's movie apps will include bonus features, trivia games and the ability to create custom clips.

The movie "School of Rock" starring Jack Black is available now for $10. Soon, Paramount will also offer "Waiting for Superman," "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" and the Ben Stiller comedy "Zoolander." Other titles will be announced.

Paramount Pictures Corp. is a unit of Viacom Inc.
