Confrontation - New Jersey State Police are explaining why a plainclothes trooper pulled his gun on rapper Jim Jones and his entourage. Authorities say the trooper was trying to gain control of the situation after Jones' bodyguard assaulted another trooper backstage. This all went down at the rapper's performance at the "Summer Jam" concert at Giants Stadium earlier this month. There is a dispute over whether the trooper in question identified himself.

Gay Marriage in D.C.? - Domestic partnerships are legal in Washington, D.C., but on Tuesday, the D.C. Council voted to recognize weddings of gay couples married in U.S. states. Lawmakers say Tuesday's unanimous vote moves the city a step closer to eventually allowing same-sex marriages to be performed in the nation's capital. The council will hold a final vote on the measure next month.

Wedding Rush - Same-sex marriages became legal in California at exactly 5:01 p.m. Monday. California is the second U.S. state after Massachusetts to legalize same-sex marriages. More than 600 same-sex couples have already made appointments to get marriage licences in San Francisco alone over the next two weeks.

Touched - Michelle Obama said dap she got from Laura Bush really "touched" her. In February, she made the statement that for the first time in her life, she was proud of the United States. She got dogged by Republicans for the comment.
