Thursday - The White House will host a job summit today. Corporate heads from Boeing Co., Disney, Google and BET’s own Debra Lee will join almost 130 business leaders and academics at the forum. The goal of the summit is to create “a climate that will spur short-term job creation,” said Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. This event occurs the day before November’s job numbers are released to the public. The jobless rate currently sits at 10.2 percent.

Main Street Tour - President Obama will resume his White House to Main Street tour on Tuesday with a visit to Iowa. While in the state, he’ll tour Siemens Energy Inc Facility in Fort Madison and will make another stop in Mt. Pleasant. The president will hold a town hall meeting later in the afternoon at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.

Friday - Today, President Obama will begin his “Main Street Tour” in Allentown, Pa. During the months ahead, the president will travel the nation’s cities and towns on a listening tour to hear about how citizens are coping with the economy.

Climate Conference - The White House recently announced that President Obama will make the trip to Copenhagen this month for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Afterward, the president will head to Oslo, Norway to pick up his Nobel Peace Prize.

In First Lady News... - In an effort to show support for bringing the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Chicago, First Lady Michelle Obama will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, the White House recently announced, to attend the 121st International Olympic Committee Session at the Copenhagen Congress Center. “There is no doubt in my mind that Chicago would offer the world a fantastic setting for these historic games and I hope that the Olympic torch will have the chance to burn brightly in my hometown,” Mrs. Obama said.

In First Lady News … - On Wednesday, Mrs. Obama will thank a group of volunteers who helped decorate the White House for Christmas. She’ll also announce that employees of the White House will take part in this year’s U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Drive.

Lighting the Tree - The Obamas will attend the annual National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. held at the Ellipse.

The program, which will run through the holidays and end on Martin Luther King Day of Service, calls on citizens to fight hunger in their communities through service. The first family packed food at a charity food pantry in D.C. the day before Thanksgiving.
