Sabathia Wins His 20th - New York Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia won his 20th game of the season on Sunday, marking just the 14th African-American pitcher since 1947 to win 20 or more games. The last pitcher to join the “Black Aces” group was Dontrelle Willis, when he won 22 games in 2005.

Dantonio Suffers Heart Attack - Unfortunately for Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio, the fake field goal wasn’t the end of his night. The head coach ended up at a Michigan hospital after suffering a minor heart attack following the game. Dantonio is expected to make a full recovery and offensive coordinator Don Treadwell will take over as interim coach.

Dennis Dixon Injured - The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a blow on Sunday as quarterback Dennis Dixon left Sunday’s game with a knee injury, forcing Charlie Batch in the game. Byron Leftwich was already out with a knee injury and starter Ben Roethlisberger is serving a four-game suspension. The starting quarterback next week is up in the air, but despite their injuries, the Steelers are 2-0.

Texas HS Quarterback Dies - West Orange-Stark high school senior quarterback Reggie Garrett collapsed on the sideline Friday night after throwing a touchdown pass and eventually died at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange, Texas. Garrett, 17, had a history of seizures. An autopsy is scheduled.

Joe Torre To Retire - Manager Joe Torre will step down as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers at the end of the season. Hitting coach Don Mattingly will replace the 70-year-old Torre. He’s not expected to manage anywhere in baseball next season.

Ingram Returns And Runs Over Duke - Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram returned from a knee injury and rushed for 151 yards and touchdowns in his season debut as Alabama defeated Duke 62-13. In his carry of the season, Ingram ran for 48 yards and surpassed the 100-yard mark two carries later.

Michigan State Fools Notre Dame - Michigan State defeated Notre Dame 34-31 in overtime after head coach Mark Dantonio called a fake field goal. The Spartans needed a field goal to tie and force another overtime, but decided to go with the gutsy trick play instead for the win.

Vick Shines As Eagles Hold On - Michael Vick will return to the Philadelphia Eagles bench in Week 3, as Kevin Kolb will get his starting quarterback job back. Vick threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, but head coach Andy Reid announced before the game that Kolb would be his starter if he was recovered from his concussion.

Mosley-Mora Fight To A Draw - In what turned out to be a fight showered with boos, Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora fought to a draw Saturday night at Staples Center. The judges scored it 116-112 (Mosley), 115-113 (Mora) and 114-114. By all accounts from anyone watching the fight, Mosley was the more aggressive boxer and should have won easily.

Colvin Pierced By Bat - Chicago Cubs outfielder Tyler Colvin was hospitalized after he was struck in the chest by a broken bat. Colvin was on third base when teammate Wellington Castro doubled and his bat shattered in the rookie’s direction. Colvin was in stable condition as doctors were trying to prevent a collapsed lung.
