He was 47. Bol, a towering 7-foot-7, played 10 seasons in the NBA with Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami. “Sudan and the world have lost a hero and an example for all of us,” said the executive director of the group Sudan Sunrise.

Child Star Gary Coleman Dies at 42 - One-time child star Gary Coleman died in Provo, Utah, after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage and falling into a coma. He was 42. Coleman, who was hospitalized for two days before he died,  was born with two failed kidneys. By age 14, he had undergone two transplants.

Coleman, best known as the star of the hit ‘80s sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes,” was hospitalized for two days before he died. Passing of an Icon - The nation lost a civil rights icon, April 20, with the death of Dorothy Irene Height. She was 98. Born in 1912 in Richmond, Va. and raised in Pennsylvania, Height was admitted into Barnard College in 1929 but was turned away because the school wouldn't allow more than two Black women. She ended up going to New York University instead and earning a bachelor’s degree in 1932 and a master’s the next year.

Dorothy Height, Rights Pioneer 3/24/12-4/20/10 - The nation lost a civil rights icon on April 20 with the death of Dorothy Irene Height. She was 98. Height was the president of the National Council of Negro Women for 40 years, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1994 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2004.

Mrs. Johnson, who also served as the secretary and treasurer of Johnson Publishing, began her world-famous fashion show in 1961 to showcase the range of fashion styles and cosmetics sported by African-American women.
