‘Annie’ Remake Featuring Willow? - Actor Will Smith and rapper Jay-Z are looking to collaborate on a remake of the musical ‘Annie’ starring Smith’s daughter Willow. Smith would produce the film through his production company Overbrook, while Jay would contribute to music, Variety reports. It’s still in development, so no word yet on whether the film will be more like the original or have an updated twist.

Common Says He’s Single - In a recent interview with a Chicago TV station, Common, said he was single, confirming reporters that he broke up with reported girlfriend tennis player Serena Williams. “I’m not married. I still have a high respect for tennis,” he told the interviewer. “But I’m definitely a single man. But everything is good with tennis.”

Common and Serena Engaged? - Engagement rumors are swirling around the rapper and tennis star once again, after William’s best friend, actress Selita Ebanks, made an appearance on the Wendy Williams Show. When asked if the couple was engaged, Ebanks answered, “I wouldn’t be the best friend if I told you, so I don’t know,” then added, “You know what, he would be smart if he did marry her. So, he’d be a very smart man.” The couple have been dating since 2007 and broke up briefly last year.

Court Order May End King Estate Battle - The much-reported spat among the children of Martin Luther King, Jr., is probably over. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Dexter King, the president of King Inc., and his siblings Martin Luther King III and Bernice King have agreed that a court-appointed custodian should revamp the family corporation that controls the copyright and intellectual property of the civil rights leader. Their decision comes after an order by Fulton County Superior Court Judge.

Bernice King Leaves SCLC - Following years of public decline, civil rights group the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) could be facing more tough times ahead as Dr. Martin Luther King’s daughter, the Rev. Bernice King, refused to continue leadership. After originally taking the helm of the organization in 2009, King announced Friday she will be stepping down because her vision “did not align” with official board members.

Originally named Carlina Renae White, Nance had done the detective work herself, finding her own baby photo online on a missing children’s Web site then followed up with the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children. Nance’s kidnapper, the woman who raised her, could face federal charges.

Philadelphia Doctor Charged With Murder - Accused of running an extremely unsanitary “abortion mill” for years, Philadelphia Dr. Kermit Gosnell was charged Wednesday with eight counts of murder for the deaths of seven babies and one patient. In addition, nine of his employees were also charged. Gosnell, a family practice physician who had no certification in gynecology or obstetrics, allegedly delivered live babies before killing them alive. He also allowed his wife, who had no medical training at all, to perform late term abortions.

Olbermann Leaves MSNBC - Popular cable news talk show host Keith Olbermann announced Friday that it would be his last day hosting his show “Countdown” on MSNBC. At the same time, MSNBC sent out a statement that “MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract,” and that they “wish him well in his future endeavors.” Neither Olbermann, who was suspended last November for donating money to Democratic candidates, or the network gave any further explanation for his abrupt departure at the time of the announcement.
