Beyoncé Is Ready to Stump for Obama
In 2008, multi-Grammy-award winner Beyoncé Knowles hit the campaign trail for Barack Obama, and now, in 2011 she says she’s more than ready to step out there again for his re-election bid. In an interview on CNN’s Monday broadcast of Piers Morgan Tonight, Knowles said that the nation needs Obama.
“I think we need Obama. And he’s doing his job,” Knowles told Morgan, despite the nation’s fragile economic recovery. “And we just have to believe in him and trust our president.”
When asked how she felt performing for the first couple’s first dance as president and first lady at Obama’s inaugural ball, the entertainer gushed that she struggled to contain herself during such an historic moment.
“It was really powerful and overwhelming. I kept telling myself, ‘OK, this is not about you, you have to do this for them. You have to do this for history,'” she said. I wanted to bawl and I wanted to stare and watch. I can’t believe I was there and it was my voice for that moment.”
A little star power can only help Obama. Since taking office and facing challenges no president would envy, the glow above Obama’s head has definitely grown dimmer.
