NBA Hall of Famer Earvin "Magic" Johnson is coming out of retirement to return to the basketball court.

Well, sort of.

The former Los Angeles Lakers great has joined a list of current and former NBA stars who will take part in next month’s “Obama Classic Basketball Game” aimed at raising funds for President Obama’s re-election campaign.

The exhibition game is set to be played Dec. 12 in Washington, D.C.

Several players have committed to playing including former NBA All-Star Steve Smith, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire and former WNBA players Tina Thompson and Cheryl Miller. Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, however, withdrew from the game Tuesday for unknown reasons, according to a report.

But the biggest name of them all that could participate is Obama, himself. It’s widely known that Obama is a basketball enthusiast, but it’s still undetermined whether or not he will actually play in the game. The last time he mixed up with NBA players the president ended up with several stitches in his lip from an inadvertent elbow this past summer.

Tickets for the game will range from $100 to $5,000 for courtside seats. Tickets can be reserved at Obama's campaign site.
