The two go head-to-head after Garnett says Lala "tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios."
An exchange of words between New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony and Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett nearly ended in a brawl during — and after — Monday night's basketball game when Garnett reportedly told Anthony that his wife, Lala, "tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios."
After the Knicks' 102-96 loss, Anthony sought Garnett out by the Celtics locker room and then again when the team was boarding its bus to leave the city.
Reports that Anthony and his wife had been estranged and living apart for two months surfaced after the incident, which could have been why the comment set him off.
"It's something you just don't say to men, another man," Anthony told the New York Daily News. "My mindset and motive of going back there to see him at the locker room and seeing him at the bus, I wanted to have a one-on-one conversation with him and talk about it like two grown men."
He admitted that while Garnett "crossed the line," he also lost his composure and "allowed some negativity to come into my circle."
