Best NBA Trios of All-Time

Can LeBron James find success with his new Big Three?

Cleveland Cavaliers Acquire Kevin Love Via Blockbuster Trade - This past weekend, the Cleveland Cavaliers finally pulled off their long-reported trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers to land All-Star power forward Kevin Love. With the acquisition, the Cavs instantly sport one of the NBA's best trios in LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Love. Yes, it'll take time to find chemistry, but when they do...watch out. On paper, James, Irving and Love can be one of the best trios the game has ever seen and if they play their cards right they can wind up with championship rings like most of the following Big Threes.(Photos from left: Doug Pensinger/Getty Images, Andy Lyons/Getty Images, Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett - The 2007 offseason acquisitions of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett resulted in the best turnarnound in NBA history and a league championship for Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics in 2008. The Celtics improved by 42 victories that season before dusting off Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in six games during the 2008 NBA Finals. Pierce, Allen and Garnett kept the Celtics in contention for the next several seasons, although they were never able to be crowned as champions again. (Photo: Christian Petersen/Getty Images)

Miami's Big Three Meet - Just as they did in 2010 before all signing with the Miami Heat, the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh met to collectively discuss their future on Wednesday, ESPN is reporting. James opted out of the final two years and $42 million of his Heat contract on Tuesday. Wade and Bosh will have until midnight on Monday to decide whether or not they will follow suit. ESPN is also reporting that the Heat want to make an aggressive attempt to move up in Thursday’s NBA Draft to select UConn’s point guard Shabazz Napier. James tweeted during the NCAA title game, which Napier’s Huskies won, in April: "No way u take a PG in the lottery before Napier." Landing Napier would entince King James to return to Miami, the Heat organization is hoping. (Photo: Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh - The Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh led the Miami Heat to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances from 2010-14, with the franchise being crowned back-to-back NBA champions from 2012-13. The trio was dismantled when King James elected to go back home last month to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Heat trio definitely made history. (Photo: Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)

Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - The "Showtime" Los Angeles Lakers of the 1980s were nothing short of thrilling, live theater brought to Tinsletown, and their main pieces consisted of the trio of Magic Johnson, James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. With Johnson leading the fast break, the scoring prowess of "Big Game James" and Kareem's trademark skyhook...the Lakers were truly a must-see show every time they took the court. With five NBA championships to their names, one can see why this trio was arguably the greatest in league history. (Photo: Elsa/Getty Images)

Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman - To be considered a great NBA trio, each of the three players must be great. That's exactly what Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman were during the Chicago Bulls' second three-peat from 1996-98. Funny how it took arguably the greatest player to ever play in the NBA and his sidekick to control Rodman at times, but the trio worked...in the fashion of three championship rings, not to mention the greatest NBA season ever in 1995-96, when the Bulls went 72-10.AFP PHOTO/Jeff HAYNES (Photo: JEFF HAYNES/AFP/Getty Images)

Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain - The skill of Jerry West, all-around game of Elgin Baylor and dominance of Wilt Chamberlain made this Los Angeles Lakers contingent an all-time great NBA trio. It's a shame that Baylor's NBA career came to an end a year before West and Chamberlain won a title with the Lakers in 1972. Still a memorable trio, though. (Photo: Ken Levine/Getty Images)

Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish - The Boston Celtics' championship teams of the 1980s were build on total teamwork with the trio of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish as the squad's pillars of strength. Bird possessed an all-around game, in which he scored, rebounded and passed with ease. Add that to the post presence of McHale and paint patrol of "The Chief," and this front-court trio was easily one of the league's greatest.(Photos from left: Rick Stewart/Getty Images, Tim DeFrisco/ALLSPORT, Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images for Sport Classic)

Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili - What's there to say about the San Antonio Spurs' trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili that hasn't been said? The trio are flat-out winners, having won four NBA championships together, including this year's triumphant return to the crown. Now go ahead and watch the throne.  (Photo: Tom Pennington/Getty Images)

Mitch Richmond, Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin - The Golden State Warriors' early-1990s trio of Mitch Richmond, Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin never came close to winning an NBA title, but they were about as exciting a basketball trio could ever get. "Run-TMC" featured Hardaway in the prime of his "Killer Crossover" days and Mullin and Richmond's sharpshooting. The Bay Area remembers.(Photos from left: Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images, Otto Greule /Allsport, Getty Images)

Ray Allen, Sam Cassell, Glen Robinson - Like "Run-TMC" of the Golden State Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks' late 1990s to early 2000s trio of Ray Allen, Sam Cassell and Glenn Robinson were mighty entertaining to watch. Each player proved the ability to almost assert his will on his defender, scoring almost at will and combining to average well over 60 points per game through their seasons together.(Photos from left: Tom Hauck /Allsport, Jonathan Daniel /Allsport, Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Sam Jones - The Boston Celtics trio of Bob Cousy, Bill Russell and Sam Jones didn't come equipped with any fancy nicknames, but they left the game with plenty of hardware in the form of five NBA championships as a trio. Russell and Jones won 10 titles together. Just call 'em the Lords of the Rings.  (Photos from left: San Fransisco/Collegiate Images/Getty Images, Focus on Sport/Getty Images, Bettmann/CORBIS)
