NFL veteran Brian Dawkins took to Twitter on Monday to announce his retirement. The safety, who most recently played for the Denver Broncos and helped the Philadelphia Eagles reach Super Bowl XXXIX (a title lost to the New England Patriots), thanked fans, teammates and coaches in his sendoff. He finished 16 seasons in the NFL with 37 career interceptions and 1,131 tackles, and was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times.
