The music mogul signs the prolific New York MC to his venerable label.
It’s official! French Montana is a Bad Boy! Diddy announced the signing of the New York-based MC tonight on the Bad Boy Takeover of 106 & Park. For the last couple of weeks, rumors had French signing to various labels, including Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music.
“I really feel real good that’s why I kept it here in New York,” French said on 106 & Park. “Why would I take my talent to South Beach?”
French continued, “When I met with Puff and sat down and really spoke, he told me a couple of things and [he] never lied to me about nothing and always kept his word. It is what it is. It’s New York. I want to bring it back to New York.”
Diddy said he admired French’s work ethic and the effect he has on his fans. Additionally, Diddy stated he wanted to keep the crown in the Big Apple.
“I represent New York for the fullest,” Diddy said on 106 & Park. “For real for real can nothing move in this city without us being a part of it. We the Yankees of this whole thing! It’s time for us to get what we supposed to get. [French] got them pinstripes on and he ready to hit it out the park.”
French also introduced his new music video for “Shot Caller” featuring Charlie Rock.
This past October at BET’s Hip Hop Awards 2011, French partook in one of the night’s Cypher sessions. See the video below!
