LeAndria Johnson - BET.com: What motivated you to audition for the show?

LeAndria: One of my friends told me about it, but my kids are what motivated me. When I lost my house and everything, I was motivated through knowing what I could do for my kids if everything went well with “Sunday Best.”

LeAndria Johnson - BET.com: Tell us about your trials with losing your home.

LeAndria: I didn’t have the finances. They came and didn’t give me notice at all and told me I had to be out within a certain amount of hours. I sat in the living room with my kids. They’re 5, 4 and 10 mos. I had to leave some stuff. I had no storage and nowhere for us to go. I knew I wanted better for my kids. I thought I’d try out and see where I go from there.

LeAndria Johnson - BET.com: Has the process been what you expected?

LeAndria: As far as the business part of it, it is what it is. I didn’t know that a family of 20 [finalists] could come together and really be together for each other and be together. The experience was amazing. Everything the judges said, I didn’t expect to hear that. I learned from the season, and I’m grateful for all of the things that were said.

LeAndria Johnson - BET.com: What has the reaction been like?

LeAndria: The reaction has been great, but somewhat scary. You’re eating in a restaurant and people are running up to you. I was getting a phone and somebody recognized me and ran up. I was like, “Wow.” My family is happy. They ask question after question after question. It’s pretty good.
