Amerie Rogers is the daughter of a Korean artist mother and African-American military father.  She stepped away from her ROTC training at Georgetown University to follow her singing dreams.  In 2002, she collaborated with R&B producer Rich Harrison for her debut, All I Have.  The lead single, "Why Don't We Fall in Love" became a top 10 hit on Billboard's "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" chart.  But it was her smash single, "1 Thing," from her 2005 sophomore album, Touch, which garnered two Grammy nominations.  After breaking from Harrison, subsequent releases struggled to find an audience.
