Originally known as Infamous 2-0 from Luda's debut and sophomore albums Incognegro and Back for the First Time, I-20 released his first full-length album, Self Explanatory, in 2004, reaching number five on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In 2002, I-20 took to the stage during the BET Awards to perform "Saturday" and "Move" with his mentor Luda.
