Jesse Boykins III

Singer Jesse Boykins III was born in Chicago and lived in Miami and Jamaica before landing in NYC during his teenage years. So it's no surprise that his musical influences vary wildly, from Marvin Gaye to Pink Floyd, Donny Hathaway to Björk. At 16, Boykins was selected to be a part of the Grammy Jazz Ensemble, and was later recruited by The New School where he studied with soul artist Bilal. In 2008, Boykins released his first album Dopamine: My Life On My Back; the album’s first single, “Tabloids” peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Video Monitor. He’s currently completing his third album, Love Apparatus.
