Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar is a Compton, California, native who has demonstrated a penchant for mesmerizing lyrical displays and thoughtful songwriting. He originally rapped under the moniker K. Dot and released a series of mixtapes starting in 2003. In 2010, he released O(verly) D(edicated) under his birth name, Kendrick Lamar. He followed up with the acclaimed Section .80 mixtape that earned him a BET Hip Hop Award nomination and shined a light on societal ills and the struggle of Generation Y. But it was his major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d city that propelled him into superstardom. Now the Black Hippy comrade is among rap’s elite and believed by many to wear the crown as the hottest MC in the game. In 2015, King Kendrick changed the game when he dropped his critically acclaimed third studio albumTo Pimp a Butterfly, which went on to top the Billboard 200 albums chart. The LP was praised for its wide social relevance and timely lyrical content.
