Lee Daniels

Lee Daniels is a film producer and director known for his critically acclaimed work. In 2001, he produced Monster's Ball, for which Halle Berry won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Daniels also produced festival favorite The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon and Mos Def. As a director, he made a major impact with Precious (2009), a dark film about an obese teen (Gabourey Sidibe) who suffers sexual abuse at the hands of her father. The film earned Daniels an Academy Award nomination for Best Director and a Best Supporting Actress award for Mo'Nique.
