Lisa Perez Jackson is the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which is charged with writing and enforcing laws that protect health and the environment. Previously, she held various posts within the EPA, and a very brief stint as New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine’s chief of staff before taking her current post in 2009. She has since made strides investigating greenhouse gas emissions, citing carbon dioxide and other gases as a threat to public health.
