A meeting with Sony Urban in 2005 led to a summer showcase and eventually a deal with subsidiary Epic. In 2008 Gourdin released his debut offering, After My Time. The album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard R&B charts, and the lead single "The River" topped the R&B charts for several weeks.
