Selma is an American historical drama released in 2014. Written by Paul Webb and directed by Ava DuVernay, the film is based on the 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, led by prominent civil rights leaders, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Hosea Williams and James Bevel. The film stars David Oyelowo, Tom Wilkinson and Carmen Ejogo. Prior to its nationwide release, Selma was nominated for four Golden Globe Award nominations, including Best Director and Best Motion Picture — Drama.
