NBA Vet Marcus Morris Sr. Arrested On Fraud Charge
Former NBA player Marcus Morris was arrested Sunday (July 27) on a fraud charge in Broward County, Florida.
According to Yahoo Sports, Morris, 35, was arrested at an airport due to an "insufficient funds check."
Online records confirm that the charge is related to a case in another state. He is being held without bond.
Markieff Morris, Marcus’ twin brother, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his dismay at the arrest, claiming the fraud charge was "crazy."
"The wording is crazy. Damn, for that amount of money, they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family. They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud s***. They could have came to the crib for all that. When y’all hear the real story on this s*** man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow,” Markieff Marcus’s brother continued. “This weird s*** gave me a headache. Can’t stop nothin!"
Yony Noy, Marcus’ agent, released a statement to deny accusations that his client committed fraud.
"Just so everyone understands, this is zero fraud here or whatever crap outlets have said regarding fake checks or whatever the hell. This is due to an outstanding marker with a casino. Apparently, if you have over $1,200, they can issue a warrant for your arrest. Absolute insanity!"
In his 13-year NBA career, Morris played with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Recently, he appeared with his brother as an NBA commentator on ESPN’s First Take.
