Jayden Daniels' Status Unknown After Suffering Injury
Washington Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels sprained his knee during last week's 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
According to CBS Sports, Coach Dan Quinn informed reporters that Daniels, on Monday, was considered "day-to-day.” His status for Sunday's upcoming game against the Oakland Raiders is unclear.
"[Daniels] did have an MRI, and he's already begun his return to play process with us. He is truly day-to-day. What does that mean for Sunday? I can't tell you that now,” Quinn said. “ I'll have more to share on that when we get to Wednesday and practice, and what that would look like. But in the return to play, he and any of the guys have to hit all of the markers for us to get back and do our thing."
During the Packers game, Daniels faced relentless pressure and was sacked four times, largely due to the impact of pass-rushing phenom Micah Parsons. ESPN’s Mina Kimes raised concerns about Daniel's long-term health after taking so much punishment.
"Through the first two weeks of the season, he leads all quarterbacks in QB contact,” Kimes said on ESPN's NFL Live. He led all quarterbacks in QB contact last year. ... It's just not sustainable,"
Last week, Kimes also noted that Daniels took 12 quarterback hits.
If Daniels is not able to play, Marcus Mariota, the backup QB, will fill-in as the starter.
