Hip Hop Awards 2022: DNA And K-Shine Face Off In A Rap Battle
K-Shine and DNA took the stage at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards for a cut-throat rap battle. At stake was bragging rights as the top lyrical gladiator, as well as a $25,000 prize for the winner.
After a coin toss, Queens, N.Y. veteran freestyler DNA went first, firing verses at K-Shine that roused the audience but appeared not to phase his opponent. After his 90 seconds on the mic, it was K-Shine’s chance to return fire. He did not disappoint.
It was up to the live audience to decide which of the two would wear the crown, based on which rapper received the loudest cheers measured by a sound meter.
DNA was declared the 2022 battle rap champion.
Before their lyrical battle, DNA admitted that K-Shine out performed him in a previous rap battle. Since then, he had been itching to “get back” at his longtime rival.

This isn’t the first time that DNA reigned supreme on the BET Rap Battle stage. In 2019, DNA was crowned champion in BET’s first live battle rap competition, topping heavyweights Geechi Gotti, T-Top and Shotgun Suge.
