All of Nicki Minaj’s "Barbz" will be ecstatic to hear that the "Starships" rapper may be set to sit at American Idol's judges' table next season alongside superstar songstress Mariah Carey, according to Us Weekly.
The timing could not be any better, either. Nicki recently received much backlash on Twitter from angry fans about the cancellation of her shows at the V Festival in England due to strained vocal cords.
However, maybe fans will put their frustrations aside to tune into American Idol's upcoming season to get their Nicki fix. Earlier today, two sources spoke to Us Weekly about Nicki’s supposed new gig.
One source explains to Us, "I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it. A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening."
The "Super Bass" rapper is "100% confirmed to judge American Idol," claims another source. Reps for either FOX or Nicki herself have yet to comment.
After Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced their departure from the show at the beginning of the summer, music’s best talent has been vying for one of the coveted spots. On July 23, Mariah Carey confirmed her seat as a judge, but with Randy Jackson taking on a new mentoring role, that leaves the show with one more judges’ seat left to fill.
Show producer Nigel Lythgoe told E! News, "What you've got to realize is you've got to create a panel that gels. A panel that makes sense together. It's not just about three individuals."
Pharrell Williams and Sean "Diddy" Combs are amongst some of the names being thrown around to join the cast.
