Pharrell Williams Rumored to Be New American Idol Judge

The N.E.R.D. frontman may join one of America's most popular shows.

Just weeks ago former American Idol judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced they would not be returning for another season. Many celebrities, including the legendary Aretha Franklin, have coveted the show’s new empty judge spots. However, Mariah Carey has already signed a deal to fill one of the slots and, according to Us Weekly, Pharrell Williams and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers might join her. Randy Jackson, the only original Idol  judge left, is said to be transitioning into a mentoring role for this season.

Williams is reportedly negotiating his own contract with the popular show. “Everything is looking good, but they’re still working out details,” said an inside source. The deal would be great exposure for the famed producer and i am OTHER creator, who just launched his YouTube network that’s now home of the viral Web series Awkward Black Girl. The singer and beat maker has already proven to have a powerful career winning three Grammy Awards and launching two successful clothing lines.

Despite the 39-year-old artist's success, it’s not expected that he will get anywhere close to Mariah Carey’s rumored 18 million dollar contract with the show. However, the chance to sit on one of America’s most popular stages may be priceless.
