Snoop Dogg Blasts the Grammys

Uncle Snoop says "f**k you" to the Recording Academy on behalf of hip hop.

There’s a good chance Snoop Dogg wasn’t rushing to watch the 57th Grammy Awards this past Sunday (Feb. 8), and he has a clear message for the Recording Academy.

Uncle Snoop posted a photo of Macklemore on Instagram earlier today with the caption,“f*ck you Grammys we need a hip hop show for real n****z n real mcs.”

The image was pulled from a special report from Complex, which shows one of the Seattle rapper’s Grammy wins from last year (he took home four trophies) and reads, “Macklemore has more Grammys than Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., DMX, Busta Rhymes, KRS-One, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Mos Def, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Big Pun, Young Jeezy, Ja Rule, and Kendrick Lamar combined.”

Hip hop’s beef with the Grammys has been longstanding. The Recording Academy has been accused of showing favoritism to white artists and criticized for excluding rap categories from the main show, yet continuously calling on LL Cool J to host.

Snoop, for example, has been nominated 16 times and has never won a Grammy. The rapper with the most Grammys on record is Kanye West with 21, followed by Jay Z  with 18.
