FSU’s Ethan Pritchard Released From Rehab Months After Being Shot In The Head
Florida State University linebacker Ethan Pritchard is back home after being released from a Jacksonville rehabilitation facility, more than two months after he survived a gunshot wound to the head. His recovery has become a rallying point for the Tallahassee community and supporters across college football.
Pritchard, a true-freshman from Sanford, Fla., was shot on Aug 31 while driving a family member after Florida State’s season opener. Authorities said his vehicle was ambushed in what they believe was a mistaken-identity shooting. The bullet struck Pritchard in the back of the head, prompting emergency surgery and an extended hospital stay.
WESH Channel 2 reported that he was discharged from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in October after months of treatment and was then transported to Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville.
His transition to a rehabilitation center came weeks later, where he began working on his brian injury recovery, rebuilding strength and relearning basic movements. Staff members said his progress accelerated in recent weeks, allowing him to return home for outpatient therapy.
Video shared by a local tv station, shows Pritchard leaving the hospital as nurses applauded his discharge.
Florida State players and coaches have continued to show support. Head coach Mike Norvell has visited multiple times and said the ordeal reminded him to value each moment.

A four-star linebacker prospect, Pritchard signed with the Seminoles after drawing interest from top programs nationwide. Although his future in football is uncertain, he has expressed determination to return when cleared.
Meanwhile, law enforcement has arrested several suspects connected to the shooting. Officials say the investigation is ongoing.
