Packers Star Josh Jacobs Held Without Bond In Wisconsin

The three-time Pro Bowler faces five total charges in Wisconsin, including felony strangulation and suffocation.

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs turned himself in to Wisconsin authorities following an incident over the weekend, and he is now facing several serious charges, including felony strangulation and suffocation.

The situation began on Saturday morning, when officers from the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department were called to a disturbance complaint involving the 28-year-old running back. Jacobs later went to the authorities and was booked into the Brown County Jail, where records show he was held without bond. In total, he is facing five charges: battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, intimidation of a victim, and the felony strangulation charge. The first three charges carry domestic abuse enhancers.

Police Chief Michael Renkas said that the department is still actively investigating what happened and won't be sharing any more details for the time being.

Jacobs is denying all the claims against him. His defense team, which includes attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac, issued a statement stating that he vehemently denies the allegations. They noted that the case is still in its very early stages and that important evidence has not yet been made public, asking people to show restraint and fairness as the legal process moves forward.

The Packers put out a brief statement on Tuesday, right as the team was starting up its organized team activities. Organization officials said they are aware of the situation but will hold off on commenting further, as it is an active legal matter. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has a regular media session scheduled for Wednesday, where he will likely face questions about how the team plans to handle the situation.

The NFL is also keeping tabs on the case. The league confirmed it has been in communication with the Packers since the report came out. Since these allegations fall under the NFL's personal conduct policy, Jacobs could face a suspension or other discipline from the league office, depending on how the investigation plays out.

Jacobs is heading into his eighth year in the NFL. He spent his first five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, highlighted by a first-team All-Pro nod back in 2022. He moved over to Green Bay in 2024 after signing a four-year, $48 million deal in free agency. On the field, he was a massive piece of the Packers offense last season, racking up 1,211 yards from scrimmage and scoring 14 total touchdowns in his 15 appearances.
