Marcus Morris Cleared of Fraud Charges After Repaying Debt
All fraud charges were dismissed against former NBA player Marcus Morris Sr. for outstanding debts to two Las Vegas resorts after the markers were paid off.
According to NBC Sports, the dismissal was entered on Wednesday, August 6, after payment was received by Wynn Las Vegas and the MGM Grand.
In July, Morris was arrested at an airport in Florida on fraud charges related to insufficient funds to cover a total of $265,000 in lines of credit at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino dating back to 2024.
Following his arrest, Morris vehemently denied he was involved in any fraud while speaking to his twin brother Markieff Morris on their YouTube channel.
“Don’t ever put my name with nothing but fraud. This is not fraud activity. I have never wrote a check to no casinos in exchange for money that I can put in my pocket,” Morris said. “I wrote an exchange for credit, thinking that you know the source of the income and you know what I’ve done in the past years to pay it back, plus put the money back that I chose to take from y’all to gamble with. So you know I want to just clear that up, and then you could take it how you want.”
In his 13-year career, Morris played for the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Most recently, Morris was a guest commentator on ESPN’s First Take.
