Quavo’s Viral ‘BTA’ Comment Defines Georgia’s SEC Championship Victory

Rapper Quavo was front and center for the SEC Championship, injecting hip-hop culture into Georgia's dominant win over Alabama.

In the world of college football, the SEC Championship is high-stakes business. But leave it to Atlanta royalty like Quavo to turn the pressure cooker of Mercedes-Benz Stadium into his personal stage for a viral victory lap. After the Georgia Bulldogs secured a dominant 28-7 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Grammy-nominated rapper did more than just celebrate; he gave the victory a new, highly quotable catchphrase: BTA, or "Belt to Ass."

Quavo, a long-time, loud supporter of the Bulldogs, was spotted celebrating on the Georgia sidelines after the team locked up their back-to-back SEC title. When ESPN's Marty Smith asked the Migos rapper to sum up the Bulldogs’ stellar performance, Quavo didn't hesitate. "We call that BTA," he stated with pride, before happily clarifying the acronym for the reporter: "Belt to ass all day today. They went crazy."

The term "BTA," which generally stands for "Beat That Ass," has gained traction in football circles as a celebratory chant or a confident boast following a decisive victory. While some may debate the phrase’s appropriateness, in the context of a dominant performance—especially a championship win over a rival like Alabama—it perfectly captures the feeling of total physical and mental control on the field. Quavo's co-sign and public declaration on the SEC Network instantly turned a grassroots phrase into a mainstream cultural moment.

He’s a crucial cultural connector, seamlessly bridging the gap between Atlanta hip-hop, Black celebrity, and the fiercely traditional world of college football. His involvement injects energy and undeniable flavor into the event, reminding viewers that the sport’s biggest games are major cultural spectacles that pull in star power from all fields.

The Bulldogs’ win Saturday marked their third SEC Championship in the last five years, securing their consecutive titles under the leadership of Coach Kirby Smart. Quavo's appearance ensured that while the team handled the business on the field, the rapper handled the culture off it, cementing a moment of Black celebrity and athletic excellence that resonated across social media.

The Georgia Bulldogs football team has earned the No. 3 seed in the latest 2025-2026 College Football Playoff rankings. This prestigious position grants them a first-round bye, setting the stage for a Sugar Bowl (CFP Quarterfinal) appearance on Jan. 1, 2026. The Bulldogs will face the winner of the contest between Ole Miss and Tulane. This marks a significant milestone as it represents Georgia’s fifth CFP appearance, continuing Coach Kirby Smart’s strong momentum in pursuit of another national championship title.
