Previewing The Phantom Vs. Mist Unrivaled Title Matchup
Unrivaled's sophomore season championship is set for Wednesday night at Sephora Arena in Miami, featuring a high-stakes matchup between No. 1 seed Phantom BC and No. 2 seed Mist BC. Both teams enter the title game after securing narrow victories in the semifinals to compete for the league’s 2026 crown and a $600,000 prize pool.
The top-seeded Phantom reached the final by defeating No. 6 Vinyl 83-75. Kelsey Plum led the charge with a 31-point performance, including shooting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. The victory came despite the absence of 2026 Defensive Player of the Year Aliyah Boston, who was ruled out for the remainder of the postseason with a lower extremity injury. In her absence, Kiki Iriafen stepped into a larger role, recording 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Mist secured its spot in the final with a 73-69 comeback win over Breeze BC. After trailing 26-10 at the end of the first quarter, Mist mounted a 16-point rally fueled by Breanna Stewart, who finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Arike Ogunbowale sealed the victory with a game-winning 3-pointer, ending the night with 21 points.
The championship game presents several key individual matchups, specifically in the paint where Iriafen will face Stewart. Iriafen previously recorded 20 points against Mist this season and will be tasked with containing Stewart’s offensive versatility. When Stewart is off the floor, Alanna Smith provides additional front court pressure for Mist; Smith was perfect from deep in the semifinals, shooting 3-of-3 from 3-point range.
In the backcourt, Natasha Cloud remains a central figure for Phantom. While Cloud was a plus-12 in the semifinals, she has faced foul trouble in previous meetings against Mist’s dynamic guards, Allisha Gray and Ogunbowale. On the defensive end, Mist will look to Veronica Burton to disrupt Plum’s rhythm. While Burton finished the semifinals with six points, her primary objective will be defensive pressure to force other Phantom contributors, such as Tiffany Hayes, to take on more scoring responsibility.
Phantom enters the contest on a nine-game winning streak and holds a 2-0 regular-season series lead over Mist. Neither franchise qualified for the Unrivaled playoffs in 2025. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
