Chiefs' Rashee Rice Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail

In addition to the jail sentence, the wide receiver received five years probation for his role in a high-speed multi-car crash that took place in Dallas in March 2024.

Rashee Rice, a star wide receiver of the Kansas City Chiefs, was sentenced to 30 days of jail time and five years' probation for his involvement in a multicar crash last year.

According to CBS Sports, the Dallas County judge’s ruling will allow Rice to serve time during his five-year probation period after pleading guilty to two felony charges.

In a statement, Rice accepted the sentence handed down by the judge and expressed remorse for his actions.

"Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas," Rice said in a statement released by his attorney. "There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole.”

“I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safely and drive smart. Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property,” his statement continued. “I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families."

The multi-car collision occurred along Dallas' North Central Expressway and the result of the hit-and-run accident left five vehicles damaged after Rice’s Lamborghini struck a retaining wall in March 2024. Rice was reportedly racing a Corvette driven by Theodore Knox. Law enforcement officers described it as a "chain reaction collision."

Following the crash, Rice and other passengers who were in his vehicle left the scene on foot without checking on those who were injured in the accident, leaving behind their vehicles.

Last season, Rice played in four games of the regular season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. In 2023, Rice finished second behind Travis Kelce for the team lead in receiving yards, helping the Chiefs win their second straight Super Bowl.
