The Minnesota Lynx star and WNBPA Vice President believes the future of the “W” is at stake.

Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier believes that the WNBA’s players must fight for the future of economic equality for the league and for society.

In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, the co-vice president of the WNBA Players Association shared that she and players feel that the time is now to draw a hard line in the sand.

“If we give in, we’re not only doing a disservice to us, we’re doing a disservice to where we have gotten in women’s sports,” Collier said. “We really have no choice but to stand strong again, not just for the present, but for the future of our league too.”

“We are standing really firm on what we want, and we’re not going to give in before we get it,” she continued.

Napheesa Collier Blasts WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert

Collier expressed her dismay about younger players like Caitlin Clark who have generated millions of dollars for the league but are not compensated fairly.

“The amount of money that Caitlin Clark has made the league is insane, and she’s getting 0% of it because we have no revenue share,” Collier said.

“She gets less than $80,000 a year, and she’s bringing in, like, hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s insane,” she added.

The relationship between the players and WNBA Commissioner Cathy Englebert. In her exit interview with Lynx, Collier blasted Engelbet and accused her of being the “worst” as a leader.

We have the best players in the world,” Collier explained in September. “We have the best fans in the world. But right now we have the worst leadership in the world."

While speaking with former Vice-President Kamal Harris, Collier said she was “fed up” with Engelbert.

"I never had planned to do that," Collier told Harris. "I am on the union for CBA negotiations ... and for so long, I felt like I saw what was going on behind closed doors. For so long, we tried to have these conversations and move the needle. ... And I saw nothing was changing."
