Myles Garrett Traded! Rams Go All In for Super Bowl Run
We have to talk about what happened Monday afternoon because the NFL just gave us a trade that nobody saw coming. Myles Garrett is packing his bags and heading west to join the Los Angeles Rams.
To get the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Los Angeles is sending quite the haul back to Ohio. We are talking about edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.
If you recall, it has been about 16 months since Garrett first asked the Cleveland Browns to move him. Even though the team gave him a four-year, $160 million extension back in March 2025 to keep him happy, the rumors about him leaving never really went away.
Everything picked up Monday morning because of the June 1 checkpoint on the NFL calendar. That date allows teams to split up the dead-money salary cap hit over two years instead of taking it all at once. Once that window opened, Rams general manager Les Snead and Browns general manager Andrew Berry got to work and locked down this deal.
Garrett leaves Cleveland after nine seasons, 125.5 sacks and five first-team All-Pro selections. His final moments in a Browns uniform were unforgettable. Back in January, he sacked Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to secure his 23rd sack of the year, breaking the NFL single-season record.
This move gives Garrett a fresh start. He has been open about how tough all the losing in Cleveland has been on him over the last two years. Now, he gets to join a Rams defense under coordinator Chris Shula that is built to win right now, giving him a real shot at playing meaningful postseason football for the first time since 2023. His agent, Nicole Lynn, once talked about him playing his whole career in Cleveland before heading down the road to the Hall of Fame in Canton, but plans change.
For the Browns, getting Verse is a major addition. He is entering his third season; he already has a Defensive Rookie of the Year award and two Pro Bowl appearances, and he gives them a great young foundation to build around alongside those future draft picks.
