Shaquille O’Neal’s Daughter Is Kentucky Bound

After two dominant seasons in Gainesville, the versatile 6-foot-4 forward is taking her talents to the University of Kentucky.

Me’Arah O’Neal announced her commitment to the University of Kentucky on Monday, April 27, marking a significant move within the Southeastern Conference. The 19-year-old forward, who is the daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, enters the program after spending two seasons with the University of Florida.

The decision follows a breakout sophomore campaign in Gainesville, where the 6-foot-4 athlete established herself as a versatile scoring threat. After entering the transfer portal on April 18, she chose the Wildcats as her next destination. In a social media post revealing her new Kentucky blue uniform, she credited her faith for the transition, saying she felt "marvelously set apart" as she prepared for the next phase of her career.

The commitment provides a major boost to Kenny Brooks, who is building his roster in Lexington. The forward shot better than 38% from 3-point range last season, a skill set her father recently praised, noting that she is the best athlete in the family. She joins a program that is actively reloading via the transfer portal to compete at the top of the SEC. As a former McDonald’s All-American, the junior transfer is expected to be a focal point for the Wildcats' offense when the new season begins.

The youngest of the O’Neal siblings to play Division I basketball, she is scheduled to join the team this summer. Her departure from the Gators comes during a period of transition for the Florida program, and she now looks to help lead the Wildcats back to the postseason.
