The Top Storylines From NFL Week 4
Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season brought us a series of games defined by dramatic finishes, significant upsets, a homecoming, and stars who were lost for the season after serious injuries. Week 4 has reshaped the early-season landscape and set the stage for crucial divisional battles that lie ahead. The only truth that NFL fans can count on is to “expect the unexpected.”
Micah Parsons’ Homecoming Ends In a Tie
The highly anticipated Sunday Night Football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys was a shootout for the ages. The offensive showcase included multiple touchdowns from Green Bay's Jordan Love and Dallas's Dak Prescott, before a last-second field goal in overtime resulted in a tie, a rarity in a game with so much offense. In his first game back in Dallas, star edge rusher Micah Parsons had one of the game's most critical defensive plays. Parsons registered the only sack for the Packers when he chased down Prescott from behind on a second-and-goal play at the 4-yard line, tackling him for no gain. Following the game, Parsons shared his feelings about the tie."I'm not even going to lie, I'm pissed off," Parsons said. "I'm very disappointed, just overall how we performed."
Patrick Mahomes Still Has Lamar Jackson’s Number
It’s a new season, but one thing remains the same: Patrick Mahomes will find a way to beat Lamar Jackson. The Kansas City Chiefs dominated the Baltimore Ravens, winning 37-20. Mahomes looked like his old self, throwing for 270 yards and four touchdowns. The Chiefs' defense forced two key turnovers—an interception by Leo Chenal and a fumble recovery—forcing the Ravens to just 10 points in the first half. Jackson finished the game with 147 passing yards, completing 14 of 20 attempts. He threw one touchdown pass but also recorded his first interception and second turnover of the season with a fumble. The Ravens move to 1-3 on the season.
Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills Remain Undefeated
While several teams have gotten off to slow starts, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Buffalo Bills have been rolling since Week 1. They remain the only undefeated teams in the league.
The Eagles handed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their first loss of the season, winning 31-25. However, the Buccaneers mounted a fierce comeback in the second half, with quarterback Baker Mayfield connecting on explosive touchdown passes of 77 and 72 yards to Emeka Egbuka and Bucky Irving. But the Eagles' defense fought off the Bucs' comeback attempt by forcing a fumble that led to a Saquon Barkley touchdown on a fake “tush push.”
The Bills pulled out a tough 31-19 victory over the New Orleans Saints. MVP quarterback Josh Allen passed for two touchdowns and ran for another. Running back James Cook ran for 100 scrimmage yards for the third straight game.
Steelers Get a W In Dublin, Ireland
The Pittsburgh Steelers narrowly defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-21 in Dublin, Ireland, in the first NFL regular-season game held in the country, played at Croke Park.
Kenneth Gainwell rushed for two touchdowns and an 80-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers to DK Metcalf. After the game, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin spoke about the significance of the game.
“We talked a lot about the late, great Ambassador Rooney last night (at the team meeting)," he said. "I know he's smiling at us today. It's just an honor to fulfill his vision, to bring NFL football to Dublin. I've been thinking about him a lot on a personal level."
Tyreek Hill Suffers Season-Ending Leg Injury
Although the Miami Dolphins won their first game of the season, the squad was dealt a devastating blow after wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a season-ending leg injury.
Hill sustained a dislocated knee with multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL, during the third quarter of the game against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. The injury occurred after Hill caught a pass near the sideline, and his left leg twisted. Hill was immediately carted off the field and taken to a local hospital.
