Candace Parker to Front Prime Video's Expanded WNBA Coverage Starting 2026
While the WNBA Finals are still taking place and the 2026 season is several months away, Amazon’s Prime Video has named Candace Parker to lead WNBA broadcasting coverage next year.
Jared Stacy, the global head of production at Prime Video Sports, broke the news during an interview with the Sports Media Podcast.
“We’ll have Michael and Candace leading our ‘W’ game coverage,” said Stacy. “We’re still working through the rest of it.”
Grady has been the play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Timberwolves since 2022 and will be one of the play-by-play voices for Prime Video’s inaugural season of the NBA on Prime in October.
Stacy also added that "there will be dedicated studio coverage of the league. Given the number of games, Prime Video will ultimately need at least one more broadcasting team."
While she was still an active WNBA player, Parker joined Turner Sports as an analyst and commentator in 2018. In various roles, she covered the NBA games on TNT and NBA TV, the NCAA men's basketball tournament (for Turner Sports and CBS Sports), and made appearances on the “Inside the NBA” studio show, where she was featured alongside legends such as Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith. After retiring from the WNBA in 2024, Parker covered the TNT Sports' studio coverage for the new Unrivaled 3-on-3 basketball league and made history by becoming the first woman to provide in-game analysis at the NBA All-Star Game in 2023.
In an interview in 2021, Parker shared how she prepared to call games.
“My TV is constantly on. If I’m not watching a basketball game, then I definitely catch a recap every night just to kind of catch up and see what’s going on,” she told Sports Illustrated. But just in terms of the Tuesday night show, where you know your games farther out. I’ll watch those teams more closely, and see what their beat writer is writing about, what they’re saying, what the hot takes are. I’ll even sign on and see what the odds are just to see who’s projected to win.”
According to Amazon’s long-term deal with the NBA/WNBA, Prime Video “will exclusively air 30 WNBA regular-season games each season worldwide, including the Championship Game of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.”
