Season Two of ‘Starting 5’ Debuts On Netflix

The highly anticipated NBA docuseries, “Starting 5,” has returned for a second season, following a new star-studded lineup.

The highly anticipated second season of Netflix's NBA docuseries, "Starting 5," premieres on October 16, 2025. The acclaimed series chronicles the 2024-2025 NBA season.

In the new season, the star-studded lineup features Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns/Houston Rockets), Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), and James Harden (Los Angeles Clippers).

Produced by UNINTERRUPTED, Omaha Productions, and Higher Ground Productions, the eight-episode series delves into the lives of the players, capturing high-stakes professional journeys—including the Finals run between Gilgeous-Alexander's championship-winning Thunder and Haliburton's underdog Pacers. Also, personal stories and behind-the-scenes footage put the players on display like never before.

In one episode, Durant and Harden reflect on what could have been when they both played on the Thunder. Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets after making it to the Finals in 2012.

"I was like, 'Shut the f--- up. Y'all just was f---ing scared. Y'all knew we was on the way." Durant said.

Harden agreed with Durant’s assessment of the situation.

"Overall, I was mad as hell, too," he said. "'Cause I got the call, and it's like, then there was a loss. These are my dawgs, like you see what we just did these last three years? It was like, 'we're gonna win a championship next year.' ... I was hurt. It was sad, for real."

Haliburton revealed that he contemplated taking time off from the Pacers as early in the season when he and the team got off to a slow start. At one point in the season, the Pacers had a 16-18 record.

"I honestly don't think I've ever felt as negative about myself as I did in November and December," Haliburton said. "Yeah, I was definitely in a dark time."

Also, the bond between Gilgeous-Alexander and Chris Paul, who were teammates on the Thunder in 2019-20, is showcased in the series.

In an episode, Paul attended Game 2 of Oklahoma City's Western Conference finals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves when Gilgeous-Alexander received his MVP award. Paul was seated next to SGA’s wife.

For all of the compelling storytelling, be sure to check out season two of “Starting 5” on Netflix.
