OBJ Back In Big Blue? Giants Host Former Star Receiver For Workout
Odell Beckham Jr. was back on familiar turf Monday, participating in a private workout and physical with the New York Giants, according to the Associated Press, The veteran receiver’s visit comes as the franchise looks to address depth concerns ahead of the 2026 season and this week’s NFL Draft.
Beckham, 33, originally entered the league as a first-round selection by the Giants in 2014. During his initial five-year run in New York, he earned three Pro Bowl nods and was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. While his departure in a 2019 trade to the Cleveland Browns marked the end of an era, his return for a workout signals a potential new chapter under head coach John Harbaugh, who coached Beckham in Baltimore during the 2023 season.
The Giants’ interest in adding a veteran presence follows a series of roster shifts and injury setbacks. Star receiver Malik Nabers is currently working his way back from a torn ACL suffered last September. While General Manager Joe Schoen recently expressed optimism that Nabers could be ready for Week 1, the team remains cautious about his recovery timeline. The receiving unit also lost a key contributor when slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson signed with the Tennessee Titans earlier this offseason.
To fill the void, the Giants have added free agents Calvin Austin, Darnell Mooney, and Ryan Miller, while also bringing back Isaiah Hodgins. Adding Beckham would provide further experience for a group catching passes from young quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Beckham is looking to get back on the field after a quiet 2024 campaign with the Miami Dolphins, where he appeared in nine games and caught nine passes for 55 yards. He spent the 2025 season as a free agent and served a six-game league suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
