Angel Reese Is Taking Her Talents To The A

The two-time All-Star forward is headed to Atlanta in exchange for two future first-round draft picks.

Things are looking a whole lot different in the WNBA today as the Chicago Sky traded star forward Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream NBA reporter Taylor Rooks first broke the news on X.

According to Front Office Sports, the Dream are bringing in Reese and a 2028 second-round pick swap. In return, Chicago is loading up for the future, grabbing Atlanta’s first-round picks in both 2027 and 2028.

Reese is entering her third season in the league sporting an impressive resume that includes All-Star nods in both of her first two professional campaigns. During the 2025 season, she was a force to be reckoned with, putting up 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds a night. While she was clearly one of the best interior players in the game—even grabbing down-ballot MVP votes as a standout performer—things behind the scenes in Chicago seemed to hit a breaking point.

Tensions began to bubble over back in September when Reese sat down for an interview with the Chicago Tribune. She was incredibly candid about the state of the Sky’s roster, openly questioning the team's direction and whether it had enough talent to compete at a high level. Those comments didn't sit well in the locker room, and Reese was suspended for the first half of the Sky’s game against the Las Vegas Aces on Sept. 7.

For the Sky, this trade is all about the long game. By adding two future first-round picks, the front office is looking to reset and build a foundation around center Kamilla Cardoso. Meanwhile, the Dream are getting a player who produces double-doubles like clockwork and is still on a team-friendly contract under the current collective bargaining agreement. Reese will count for just $82,399 against the cap in 2026, with a team option for 2027.
