Have You Seen Him? Community Support Urged as Search for Former Giants Player Sam Beal Hits 7-Month Mark
The family of former New York Giants defensive back Sam Beal is intensifying its plea for public assistance as the search for the athlete enters its seventh month.
Beal, 29, was last heard from on July 13, 2025. According to investigators and family statements, the former NFL cornerback disappeared after dropping his girlfriend off at her family’s residence. While he was reportedly scheduled to head to work afterward, authorities stated he instead traveled toward Virginia Beach.
His girlfriend noted that in their final communication, Beal indicated he was returning home. He has not been seen or heard from since.
Essence Zhane, Beal’s sister, recently took to social media to advocate for her brother, expressing the emotional toll the prolonged disappearance has taken on the family.
"We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together and at this point we’re in desperate need of support on all ends," Zhane wrote in a public post. She emphasized that the family is focused on locating Beal rather than addressing speculation surrounding the circumstances of his disappearance.
"I’m not here to answer a bunch of why’s and how’s, I just need this to land in the right direction to gain some form of answers or closure," she added.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System currently lists Beal as missing from the Virginia Beach area. He is described as:
- Build: Muscular and athletic
- Hair: Black
- Eyes: Brown
Beal was a supplemental draft pick for the New York Giants in 2018 and played several seasons in the league before his career was hampered by injuries.
