Las Vegas HBCU Classic Spotlights Black College Football
The Inaugural Las Vegas HBCU Classic between Grambling State University and Jackson State University will be held on October 25, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium.
The contest will showcase the rich legacy of HBCU football, “culture, and pageantry under one bright spotlight in the Entertainment Capital of the World.”
The matchup will also mark the 73rd all-time meeting between the two historic Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) programs. Last year, Grambling defeated Jackson State 41-20.
Sandra Douglass Morgan, the first Black woman to serve as an NFL team president, spoke about making the Las Vegas HBCU Classic idea a reality and the support of her organization, the Las Vegas Raiders.
"When I was first approached about the Las Vegas HBCU Classic, I went to my boss, Mark Davis, and he was like, absolutely. Get it done," Douglass Morgan told Kyle T. Mosley of HBCU Legends On SI. "The love, adoration, support, and most importantly, respect for HBCUs runs deep in the Raiders."
Morgan believes the Las Vegas HBCU Classic will transcend the gridiron
"I'm hopeful it's going to help the HBCUs," she expressed. "Look, we’re the greatest sports and entertainment city on earth. Having these two teams and their fans here on the world's biggest stage is great for HBCUs."
At halftime, Grambling's "World Famed" Tiger Marching Band and Jackson State's internationally renowned "Sonic Boom of the South” will be bringing the music and the vibes.
Leading up to the game, there will be a Pep Rally, an HBCU Classic alumni mixer, and a game-day tailgate.
On Sunday, the Las Vegas HBCU Classic Gospel Brunch, sponsored by the Las Vegas Raiders, will be held at Resorts World Las Vegas.
