Clippers Land Bradley Beal After Suns Buyout Agreement
Brandley Beal’s time with the Phoenix Suns has come to an end.
The three-time All-Star signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, ESPN's Shams Charania reported. The Clippers were frontrunners to sign Beal after his buyout from the Suns was finalized.
With a no-trade clause in his previous contract that he initially signed when he was with the Washington Wizards, the Suns were on the hook to pay Beal $53 million during the 2025-26 season.
Because Beal’s large contract and new league rules, finding a trade partner was a difficult task. In 2026-27, All-Star Beal could have opted into a staggering 57 million player option.
For the Suns, the transaction saves the organization $175 million this season just in luxury tax, and erased more than $210 million off the team's books. Also, Beal is giving back $13.9 million out of the $110 million.
The Suns will pay Beal the entire $99 million he’s owed in annual $20 million payments for the next five years.
Along with Beal, the Clippers added center Brook Lopez. They traded Norman Powell to the Miami Heat and acquired John Collins from the Utah Jazz in a blockbuster, three-team deal with the Utah Jazz.
Last season, Beal appeared in 53 games, averaging 17.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game.
