LeBron James Confirms He Caught A Body—And A Backboard—Against Bronny

The Lakers superstar gives the hilarious backstory on the dunk that ended his driveway duel with his teammate-son.

The driveway at the James household in Miami isn't just a place to park cars—it’s apparently a graveyard for backboards. In a March 28  media availability, Bronny James dropped a gem of a story from the locker room about the last time he went head-to-head with his father. According to the rookie, the one-on-one session ended in chaos when his dad literally brought the house down.

The young Los Angeles Lakers guard described the scene as a "special moment" between them, even if it meant the game had to be cut short. It wasn't just a missed shot or a foul that ended the run; it was a total equipment failure courtesy of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

A few days later on March 31, the elder superstar gave his side of the story, confirming that the backboard didn't stand a chance. LeBron James broke down exactly how it went south, admitting that his power was just too much for the driveway setup.

"I dunked it," the four-time MVP said with a grin. "I didn’t mean to shatter the glass, but yeah, I shattered it."

While the backboard was in pieces, the basketball icon made sure to give his son some credit, noting that the younger athlete had already knocked down a couple of shots before the glass flew. But don't get it twisted—the veteran forward made it clear that he’s still the one running the court. He jokingly referred to that version of himself as "Miami Bron," a version he calls "invisible" because of how untouchable he was during those years.

"It’s not like he was about to win," the legend joked, making sure everyone knew who held the lead before the rim gave out.

As for the driveway court, that dunk was the grand finale. The father of three admitted he didn't even bother calling a repairman or ordering a replacement.

"I don't think I bought another one," the superstar added. "I think that was it."
