Kyrie Irving Comes Out Against ‘YN’ Culture
Kyrie Irving has made it clear that he doesn’t support the current “YN” culture.
During his livestream on Twitch, the Dallas Mavericks star guard denounced the term “YN” and the culture that supports it.
"I don't support that YN generation y'all," he said with passion. "I'm good, bro. I love God too much to be a YN. I'm just going to put it like that. I love myself too much to be a YN bro."
While he doesn’t mind terms like "Unc" and "OG" he does not endorse any “self-destructive” behaviors that he believes some young people have embraced and have become associated with the term.
"You can call me Unc, Y-OG, or whatever it is," Irving said. "We have a common enemy, and y'all want to kill our own people, dog. I'm good."
While Irving did not delve into gang politics, the nine-time All-Star lauded the “OGs” who are making a difference in their respective communities by being good examples for young people.
"Anybody killing our own people — and I know war is war and I'm not getting into any gang politics," he said. "Shout out to all and salute to all OGs that's out there really putting the morals and principles into these youngins and putting their best foot forward and being family men."
"But yeah, that generation, those young [n***as], nah I'm good bro. Y'all can have that name, y'all can have that sh*t. I don't want anything to do with it,” he continued. “I'm not connected to it, nothing."
