Anthony Edwards Out for Two Weeks With Hamstring Strain
Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards will reportedly miss two weeks after suffering a right hamstring strain.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Edwards suffered the injury during the first quarter Sunday against the Indiana Pacers. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Edwards made a layup in traffic off a fast break with 3:07 left in the first quarters, taking hard contact. One second later, the Pacers called timeout and Bones Hyland subbed in for Edwards during the break.
After the game, the Timberwolves described the injury as hamstring tightness. Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch did not share an update of Edwards’ injury after the win.
With Edwards out, Julius Randle put up a dominant game Timberwolves scoring 31 points on 11-for-18 shooting with six assists.
“I think guys are doing a great job of, when I get double teamed in the post, finding space,” Randle said . “Just stuff like that. I think the biggest thing is being quick, decisive and not holding the ball as much.”
“It was outstanding. Just put the ball in his hands and felt confident he was going to get a clean look,” Finch said during his post-game interview. “Put a lot of pressure on the middle of their defense. Just kind of was a calm place to go.”
This session, in a small sample, Edwards was off to a hot start. He scored 72 points through the first two games.
In his career, Edwards has established a reputation for being durable, consistently being available for games. He has played in at least 72 games in each of his seasons, setting him apart from many of his contemporaries. Before his hamstring injury, Edwards never missed more than six consecutive games in a season.
