De’ Aaron Fox is officially one of the cornerstones of the San Antonio Spurs.

According to ESPN, Fox signed a four-year, $229 million super max contract extension with the franchise on Monday (August 4). The deal has no player option in the final year, ensuring that Fox will be a Spur through the 2029-30 season.

In a statement, Fox said that he wanted to make San Antonio his home because of the organization's storied legacy, and he hopes to add to it with championships in the future.

"Just being able to be part of an organization like this ... you come in here and you feel that. You feel that in the environment. You feel that in the fans," Fox said. "And then you go into the practice facility or you go into the arena and you see those banners hanging ... there's nothing you can do besides try to build on that."

Fox and Victor Wembanyama will be recognized as one of the most dynamic duos in the NBA.  Although they only played five games together last season due to injuries, the Spurs have a talented young core that also includes Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle and the number two pick of the NBA Draft, Dylan Harper.

After eight seasons as a Sacramento King, Fox was traded on February 3rd to the Spurs in a blockbuster deal that sent Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls to Sacramento, Zach Collins from San Antonio to Chicago, and Kevin Huerter from the Kings to the Bulls. The trade was sparked when Fox declined to sign an extension with the Kings and reportedly had tension with head coach Mike Brown, who was eventually fired.

In 62 games for the Spurs and Kings, the one-time All-Star and one-time All-NBA guard averaged 23.5 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds.
