Lamar Jackson To Miss 2-3 Weeks With Hamstring Strain
Lamar Jackson missed his first game this season for the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday against the Houston Texans with a hamstring injury. In his absence the Ravens lost 44-10.
Jackson suffered the injury in the Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cooper Rush started in place of Jackson and completed 14 of his 20 passes for 179 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions against the Texans.
The Ravens are expected to be extremely cautious with the former MVP, as a hamstring injury is particularly tricky for a player as mobile as Jackson. Some even speculated that Jackson may be held out until after the team's Week 7 bye to ensure a full recovery.
NFL insider Jay Glazer spoke about Jackson's injury status for Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams at home and the possibility of his return
“I was told there’s an outside shot for next week, so they don’t want to shut it down yet,” Glazer said. “But the bye is coming after that, obviously. If they decide to (hold) him out next week, then they get three weeks of rest for him, but they’re not saying he’s out yet for next week.”
Following the game, Ravens head coach John Harborough expressed his disappointment in his team’s performance.
"We had good enough players out there to play a lot better than we did," Harbaugh said.
"This run defense, it's not OK," he continued. "We haven't fixed that all year yet. That's the No. 1 thing."
Since 2018, the Ravens are 4-10 without Jackson.
